Watches Spotted on the Stars at Met Gala, 2022

Met Gala 2022 was not short of the usual glitz, glamour and drama it has come to be associated with every year. The glamorous ladies led the pack with always-in-news Kim Kardashian who wore the $4.8 million shimmering gown of Marilyn Monroe, Blake Lively with her Versace tiered dress inspired by Architecture and classic buildings of New York and our own Natasha Poonawalla who managed to mix Schiaparelli and Sabyasachi to create a dramatic effect in her costume.

The men of the Met Gala added their own share of excitement to the event not so much with their clothes but with some supremely gorgeous wrist watches.

The oyster perpetual sky-dweller in oyster steel and white gold comes with a bright black dial and a jubilee bracelet. This distinctive watch is characterised by its second time zone display on an off-centre disc on the dial. Furthermore, its innovative system for setting the functions, using the rotatable Ring Command bezel, is unique to Rolex. A fixed inverted red triangle on the dial points to the chosen reference time on the off-centre 24-hour disc. At a glance, this 24-hour display clearly distinguishes daytime hours from night-time hours in the other time zone. A deep red rectangle in one of the 12 windows around the dial indicated the current month, a striking characteristic of the Saros annual calendar. This ingenious mechanism simplifies life for the wearer of the watch, who no longer needs to think about adjusting the date at the end of a 30-day month. The annual calendar displays the correct date through the year. The diameter is 42 mm and the material is white rolesor. The other features are a dial which is a combination of oyster steel and white gold, fluted bezel, bidirectional rotatable Rolex ring command, the winding crown screw-down, the crystal scratch-resistant sapphire, cyclops lens over the date and a water resistance of up to 100 metres and power reserve of approximately 72 hours.

Jeremy Strong with Hublot Classic Fusion Bronze – He wowed us as Kendall Roy in Succession. Treading the narrow line of being an eccentric narcissist and being the obsessed-about-success scion of a media conglomerate, Kendall will always be an unforgettable fictional character. Jeremy wore a Hublot Classic Fusion Bronze to the gala which would have surely made Kendall proud.

The model size is 45 mm and comes with a brushed bronze case and bezel. The water resistance is 50 metres. The crystal is Sapphire with anti-reflective treatment and the dial is in sunray brown. The movement is HUB1112 self-winding and comes with a 48-hr power reserve.
